Ending 2016 by rolling up my sleeves and deeply immersing myself in a dialogue of abstraction in my painting. Exploring layering, juxtaposition of more defined graphic lines and symmetry in composition with the organic, looser qualities of paint, water and the elements of surprise and mystery. The painting, "Quench", synthesizes for me the opposites of free flowing qualities of paint and deliberate, sensual calligraphic painted lines.
